General Information—Halifax, Nova Scotia
Halifax was established in 1749 and is one of the world’s most strategic harbors, having been an integral part of the Allied war effort during both world wars. Known as “A Navy Town”, Halifax, as well as the province of Nova Scotia itself, has a strong civil and military aviation history. As the home of Maritime Command for the Canadian Forces, Halifax has been host to members of the military from the five continents. The Maritime Provinces have also been an essential component in the development of trans-Atlantic and International civil aviation. Considered by many as a hidden gem, Halifax’s charm may be best enjoyed on foot. The local residents are famous for their charm and “down home” hospitality. |
