Deluxe Halifax City tour with Lunch
Halifax City Tour and Fisherman’s Cove (7 hours)

This history and anecdote-filled ride through the streets of Halifax will introduce you to one of North America’s most unique and captivating destinations. Hear of the days of rumrunning and privateering, Halifax during the war years and the exploits and heroism of the citizens that lived through the devastating Halifax Explosion in 1917. Your kilted guide will lead this excursion throughout the city while highlighting its history before you head for Fisherman’s Cove. Along the way, a group meal will be enjoyed.
Nestled on the shore of beautiful and historic Eastern Passage of Nova Scotia, Fisherman’s Cove is a 19th century working fishing village restored to its 200-year-old splendor. Take a peek into the history and vitality of a seafaring community. Visitors can watch local fishermen and artisans demonstrate their craft, walk the miles of boardwalk that line the shore, or relax and enjoy the interpretive centre. You will enjoy a two course lunch at Boondocks Restaurant which overlooks Eastern Passage.

South Shore Tour—Lunenburg, Mahone Bay and Peggy’s Cove

Commonly known as “the prettiest town in Canada”, Lunenburg has recently been named one of the world’s fewUNESCO World Heritage Sites by the United Nations. Settled in the mid 1750’s by Germans and Swiss, its citizens still retain one of the most interesting accents in North America. Now a bustling fishing port, Lunenburg was once considered to be the busiest shipbuilding town in the world, and was the birthplace of the world-famous racing schooner Bluenose. The town’s distinctive architecture and extraordinary scenic beauty is a colourful reminder of our maritime heritage. Next, enjoy a delightful downhill walking tour with a local historian, to learn the fascinating folklore of Lunenburg’s past and present. Highlights of this stroll include the Lunenburg Academy, a visit to the gravesite of Sophia, “the girl who died of a broken heart”, the details of the UNESCO designation, and a sample of the seafood delights associated with a traditional Lunenburg “Mug Up
Next your group will enjoy a splendid lunch at The Old Fish Factory in Lunenburg.
Now it’s on to Mahone Bay for a brief stop. This charming village is famous for its picturesque scene of three waterfront churches, and many cottage industries and craft shops.
Next stop will be made at Peggy's Cove, an artists’ and explorers’ paradise for well over 150 years. This picture postcard village, on the rugged Atlantic Shoreline, stands on solid rock above the crashing surf. The coastline is famous for pirates, shipwrecks, rum running and sunsets. There will be plenty of time for exploring this unique area, and for those who wish, your kilted guide will take you on a walking tour of the moody cove and village, featuring the famous DeGarthe Sculpture - a beautiful granite carving which depicts the life and people of the area. Don’t forget to mail a postcard at the Post Office in the Lighthouse - considered by many to be the most photographed lighthouse in the world! You’ll love this tour along our beautiful South Shore!
